Sharon Stadther

Sharon Stadther is a Minnesota artist who has been drawing throughout her life. From a young age, she has shown a natural talent for creating beautiful and dynamic works of art.

Sharon received a Scholarship for her rendition “Draw Snoopy” from the Minneapolis Art Instruction School Basic Art Program from 1972 to 1975. She then attended the California College of the Arts in Oakland, California, where she received a comprehensive education in various mediums and learned the fundamentals of design and the elements of art, which are essential for creating lasting and successful works of art.

She also studied figure drawing at the University of Minnesota from 1990 to 1992 and attended the Atelier Studio in Minneapolis, where the primary focus was still life, figure work, and portrait. She has also studied at the Paquet Studio in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she has honed her skills and deepened her understanding of landscape painting.

Sharon’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including a first-place win in the Artist Magazine Still Life Competition in 1999 for her piece “Summertime Memories” and Best in Show awards at the Savage Art Show and White Bear Center for the Arts. Her work has been featured in several shows, including Sanctuary in 2011, Featured Artist TOSCA in 2012, Master Framers in 2015, Inside Out International Art in 2016, the In-the-Arts Hallberg Art Center and NKB during the Art-a-Whirl and Art-Attack events from 2019 to 2023.

Sharon’s artistic philosophy is based on the importance of adhering to the fundamentals of design and the elements of art in order to create lasting and successful works of art. She remains humble and dedicated to painting, using old school techniques to support this philosophy and striving to create a body of work that is sensitive, honest, beautiful, and dynamic.

Sharon Stadther currently teaches drawing and painting at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin, the Bloomington Art Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, and the White Bear Art Center in White Bear, Minnesota. As a member of NEMMA, she continues to show her work at Studio Pintura during Art-a-Whirl and Art-Attack events. Her works are currently displayed at Spatial Effects Gallery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
